1 Ne Isaiah chapters

1 Ne
21:8 "in an acceptable time have I heard thee"
20:10-11 "I have refined thee, I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, yea for mine own sake will I do this, for I will not suffer my name to be polluted"

These 2 verses together teach an important principle. Sometimes trials and lost hopes and things not happening when we want them to occur that way for the Lord's purposes, which are what? immortality and eternal life of me, and joy-for me! I don't know the Lord's designs for me or my future, but I can rest assured that if I keep the commandments and cheerfully do all things that are in my power, all things will work together for my good - my joy, happiness, for me to marry the best person at the best time.

That being said, God cares infinitely about what we care about! The things we go through are sometimes incredibly painful and heart-wrenching. 21:16 "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me." The things that seem insurmountable to us - what feels like walls around us, are a huge part of what Christ has taken upon Him and only He can completely know what a trial it might be to us, and He knows how to succor us and lift us up. And He will help us get over those walls.

More about the daily struggle to live the Gospel: "Real repentance, real change may require repeated attempts, but there is something refining and holy in such striving." D Todd Christofferson. I love this quote from last conference! It is so comforting to me because I am definitely a person who has to repent again and again from the same things.
